Softening of drinking water

Problem: Hard drinking water

Hard water contains calcium and magnesium in high concentration. These ions cause persistent spots and discolorations on surfaces and fittings. Moreover, incrustations, wear of pipes, heating system, technical facilities and domestic appliances are enhanced. This may cause high costs.

Lower costs – Higher water quality

Softened water presents a variety of advantages for you, among others:

  • Increased lifetime of technical facilities and domestic appliances
  • No incrustation of taps and bathroom fittings
  • Reduction of consumption of washing, cleaning and scrubbing products
  • Easy cleaning of showers, bathrooms and swimming pools (time saving)
  • Improved taste of food and beverages
  • Softer clothes (without using fabric softener)
  • More pleasant and healthier water for the skin

  • Very quick and easy intallation
  • Ion exchanger integrated inside the salt tank
  • Low space requirements
  • Perfect for low to medium water consumption
  • Arbitrarily eligible size of external salt tank
  • Higher posible capacity than cabinet softeners
  • Perfect fot medium water consumption
  • Permanent flow of softened water
  • Very high capacities possible
  • Perfect for industrial application
  • Permanent flow of softened water
  • Very low pressure drop due to special control valve

Process: Ion exchange

GTWE uses the worldwide approved technique of ion exchange to soften water. The raw water flows through a reactor filled with a special ion exchange resin. There calcium and magnesium ions are exchanged with sodium ions. This process proceeds until the capacity of the resin is exhausted and therefore has to be regenerated. For the regeneration sodium chloride (common salt) is used.

According to your individual parameters (water consumption, hardness of the raw water, etc.) we will select the adequate capacity of the softening system for you. In addition to that the system may have some special characteristics, for example:

  • Permanent soft water flow
  • Design of the system (e.g. compact cabinet softener)
  • Integration of a disinfectant unit for better hygiene of the resin
